The Jacques Fibre Optic Interface FOM-4 is a modem for transmitting 4 duplex signals on fibre optic cables. It is often used for electrically isolating large Jacques 550 Series Networked Intercom Systems where there is a significant distance between sub-systems.

The Fibre-Optic Interface is ideally suited for any communications link that requires a mixture of Audio and Data, and where distance, electrical noise or security considerations, render conventional twisted pair cable links impractical.

• Supports four full duplex audio and data channels, over duplex fibre-optic cable operation
• Four channels of audio
• Four channels of data (RS-422 or RS-232 on all 4 channels with 1 channel also RS- 485 capable)
• Very low distortion and crosstalk – designed for professional audio applications
• A maximum distance of five kilometres between interfaces
• Separate LED Tx/Rx selection of audio and data
• Available in two case versions:
  o Eurocard 3RU high x 6T wide module (FOM-4E), which slots into a standard 3RU high 19-inch card frame assembly
  o Stand-alone metal case (FOM-4), measuring L=140mm, W=128mm, H=27mm.
